Console Codes

Press [~] to open the command line, where you can type the cheats. When typing cheats, the keyboard may be considered as a QWERTY keyboard, so you may want to have a look at the QWERTY layout to find the keys.

Many cheats affecting the player need to start with "player.". For instance, you can set your strength to 255 by typing "player.setAV strength 255". The cheats are case-insensitive.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of commands to be used on oneself:

  • tgm: toggles god mode.
  • tai: toggles AI.
  • tcl: toggles collisions (noclip).
  • setAV [skill] [level]: sets [skill] (remove any space or dash in the skill name) to level [level]. For instance "player.setAV strength 255". It works with attributes too. Finally, unlike in The Elder Scrolls 3, the skill and attribute values are coded in a single byte, which means that their highest possible value is 255. Here is the list of skills and attributes:
    • attributes: agility, endurance, intelligence, luck, personality, speed, strength, willpower
    • skills: blade, blunt, handtohand, armorer, block, heavyarmor, athletics, acrobatics, lightarmor, security, sneak, marksman, mercantile, speechcraft, illusion, alchemy, conjuration, mysticism, alteration, destruction, restoration
  • additem [id] [n]: adds [n] number of the item whose ID is [id] (NB: leading zeros can be committed, for instance "player.additem 00733D8 1" and "player.additem 733D8 1" add the same item). For example: "player.additem 733D8 1" adds a Daedric Longsword to your inventory. Here is a little list of good items. For a much bigger (exhaustive?) list of items, see Full item list at Gamewinners.com.
    • Gold: 0000f (so to get 5,000 gold, use "player.additem f 5000")
    • Daedric armor and weapons: longsword 733d8, bow 733dd, arrow 1efd3, boots 36359, cuirass 3635b, gauntlets 36358, greaves 3635a, helmet 36357, shield 3635c
    • Skeleton key: 0000b
    • Repair hammer: 0000c
    • Ring of vitality (resist disease, paralysis and poison): 9844f
    • Ring of the Iron Fist (reflect damage 33%, fortify hand-to-hand 25 pts): 98458
    • Escutcheon of Chorrol (a shield which fortifies endurance by 10pts and reflects damage 35%): 6bdfe
    • Necklace of Swords (reflect damage 33%, fortify blade 25pts): 98452
    • Fin Gleam (a helm that lets you breathe under water): 82dd8
  • setlevel [x]: sets your level to [x].
  • setPCFame [x]: sets your fame to [x].
  • setPCInfamy [x]: sets your infamy to [x].
  • fov [x]: sets your FOV (field of view) to [x]. The default value is 75.

With the console, you can also modify the environment. The easiest way to do this is to open the console, click on the object or NPC you want to modify, and enter your command. For instance, to unlock a door, open the console, click the door and type unlock. To lock any door, do the same but type lock [the lock lvl you want], eg "lock 50".

Here is a list of command that can be used on oneself or on NPCs:

  • setCrimeGold [x]: sets a bounty on the selected character to [x] gold.
  • kill: kills the target.
  • resurrect: resurrects the target.
  • resethealth: gives back full HP to the target.

Some commands to edit your character any time in the game:

  • showbirthsignmenu: opens the menu to change your birth sign.
  • showclassmenu: opens the menu to change your class.
  • showracemenu: opens the menu to change your race.
  • sexchange: changes your gender. NB: doing so will make you lose your head and may crash the game... so, not really interesting...

And finally, various commands:

  • set timescale to [x]: changes the time speed to [x]. Default is 30 (ie 1 seconds in real time is worth 30 seconds in game), 1 is real time, 0 stops the time, etc.
  • closecurrentobliviongate: closes the Oblivion gate you're in.
  • showSpellMaking: opens the spell-making screen.
  • showEnchantment: opens the enchantment screen.
