Using Google Chrome?

I noticed that you tried to add a userbox saying that you use Chrome. Well, the box is now created so you can add it back if you want :) Here it is: {{UB Chrome}} Patheticcockroach 22:20, 17 July 2009 (CEST)

uploading pictures

Hi,

When uploading pictures, don't forget to add them an {{Infobox Media}} template, for instance like on this cover. It's useful for search engines, and also for every user to know the copyright status and author of the picture. Patheticcockroach 17:44, 18 July 2009 (CEST)

Template:Languages

I think that by :Template:Languages you meant to do something like :Category:Language userboxes? :) Patheticcockroach 21:24, 18 July 2009 (CEST)

I Sure AM! Prentice 21:49, 18 July 2009 (CEST)

So are we using ISO 639-2/T or just ISO 639-1? I absolutely don't want to make a mix of them (because it means we would surely end up with duplicates), so we need to pick one once for good. Patheticcockroach 08:26, 19 July 2009 (CEST)

It's all on the page Template:Language =D But please delete the old ones... thanksPrentice 08:28, 19 July 2009 (CEST)
And it's all ISO 639-1... There WILL be some languages missing, the question is: are we willing not to have them? (Note that it may indeed be a good choice, but I just wanted to make sure you've thought about it before deleting the ISO-2 version) Patheticcockroach 08:48, 19 July 2009 (CEST)
It's Fine... Users can input there own languages if it doesn't exist... Try it :P. Prentice 08:52, 19 July 2009 (CEST)
Yeah I saw that, but the problem is that in the current setting we don't precise what ISO code the users should be adding. Is it okay for you if we say "ISO 639-1 and nothing else"? If yes, I'll clean the ISO 639-

2 and/or ISO 639-3 codes that made their way to the template. Patheticcockroach 14:09, 19 July 2009 (CEST)

Yeah, Thats fine. Prentice 14:12, 19 July 2009 (CEST)

Infobox Media

Hi!
I would arrange you to add a {{Infobox Media}} to all your Image uploads, cause we would like to know where you found the files and if you got an permission by the copyright holders, or if it's free, we don't know it.

Please add it to all your image uploads. Thank you :D (If you want to know how a Infobox Media is built, you can easily look down the main page there are listed the recently uploaded images, by getting to their edit page, you can copy down the template and easily paste it in yours image page.) Viraba (talkcontribs) forgot to sign this comment.

Hi. I remember of a day when you went on a licensing spree and licensed all the pictures with a missing license in their infobox. This was a great idea, even though in some rare case (one or 2 maybe) you couldn't really be sure of the license, and I'm surprised that after showing such an interest of other people's infoboxes you're uploading all your pictures without one. Or maybe are you planning to add the boxes later? Patheticcockroach 08:57, 25 July 2009 (CEST)
I was going to just go through and do them all at the same time =] Prentice 09:24, 25 July 2009 (CEST)
Oh ok, then I let you do them ;) (btw don't forget that the source field will be different for each one) Patheticcockroach 11:11, 25 July 2009 (CEST)
Just a bump. The infoboxes you made are incomplete (inaccurate source and missing author on images like File:Playstation-Button-Select.png) or missing like on File:Crystal Clear action run.png. Also, I think it would be better to focus on contents rather than on templates for the moment. Tons of templates won't bring us as many incoming links or Google searchers as a few game pages do (this in reference to your forum post about how to boost the site ;)). Patheticcockroach 17:25, 26 July 2009 (CEST)

Userboxes

Amazing work you're doing on the userboxes. Just don't forget to add them to the userboxes category, so we don't lose them chaos! ;) Patheticcockroach 13:54, 19 July 2009 (CEST)

Sure won't :D

AWB

When using AWB, please configure it not to replace html entities with their decoded value, for instance don't replace → with → Also please refrain from making very minor edits, it expands the database and the recent changes a lot for not much. Patheticcockroach 19:51, 25 July 2009 (CEST)

Hmm Ok does a minor edit include spelling errors? Cause I might aswell do them now while the site is still in a low profile Prentice 09:11, 26 July 2009 (CEST)
Well, I'd say it's a matter of balance. If there is only one spelling error on a 20KB-long page, yes. If there are like 5 errors on a 5KB-long page, well it's still a minor edit but it's definitely worth doing it. Also, if you want you can create an account just for running your AWB so I can set it to bot and it will be half hidden in the recent changes and you'll be able to remove the "edit by AWB" notice in your edit summary (btw, it's a good idea to make the edit summary as short as possible, for instance just "typo" - if people need more details they can display the diff). Patheticcockroach 10:49, 26 July 2009 (CEST)
Made the bot Prentice 11:08, 26 July 2009 (CEST)

Main page editing

please don't edit the main page, unless it is not an update of extensions and so on...
please send all notices to the bureaucrats or admins. thanks Viraba 15:39, 11 August 2009 (CEST)

IMPORTANT: I am looking for a group of keywords that relate to this wiki in anyway. For instance Keywords like 'Video Games Wiki' Or 'Gaming Wiki'. I need these keywords to keep track on how well we are doing on the Search engine point of view(Page rank). So I will be posting the monthly results here: W4G:PR. SO... If anyone can think of anymore keywords please post the to W4G:PR. Thanks, Prentice 11:31, 11 August 2009 (CEST)

Activity looking good :)

It's nice to see you and Viraba around, even with not many recent changes we have a great response time at reverting vandalism and welcoming users :) Btw, anything going on in the IRC? Patheticcockroach 22:39, 4 March 2010 (CET)

No not really but meh it's still good to have it there... I'm usually there.

re: Welcome

Thanks for this info, I'm not completely new to wiki stuff but the help about the syntax will still be helpful to me :) Fabricius 09:26, 14 March 2010 (CET)

No problem! --Prentice 09:29, 14 March 2010 (CET)

Re: Sysop

Np, you're like the most active user currently, so that was logical to help control vandalism better :) On a side note, I just noticed that your signature needs an urgent fix: it currently points to "Prentice" in the main namespace, which shouldn't even exist (it should point to User:Prentice or to your talk page): think about it, if there happen to be a game called "Prentice" all your signatures would then point to it... Fun but not really cool Patheticcockroach 19:29, 22 March 2010 (CET)

Will just go to the default sig now :)
Change User:Prentice 19:36, 22 March 2010 (CET)

File:Cod-6-Screenshot-1.jpg

File:Cod-6-Screenshot-1.jpg is 10 times the maximum recommended picture size. Although this 150 KB limit is a soft limit and we have a few pictures twice as big, more than 500 KB is always too big. Through scaling and re-compression I've been able to achieve under 160 KB on this one. Patheticcockroach 19:37, 22 March 2010 (CET)

Didn't see it was that big =/ will send all of them through a compression thingy doo da Prentice
Yeah that's weird it looks like the upload size warning is broken, I didn't get the warning when I uploaded the recompressed version. Or maybe it's just on first upload (?) Well, anyway, the dimensions for 16:10 screenshots should be 1440x900 (max width 1440, height can be cropped if it's all black ;)), it makes the byte cost cheaper, is plenty enough to get a good sight of the game, and is already more than most people have yet.
Btw, your sig should be [[User:Prentice|Prentice]], not [[Prentice|User:Prentice]] ;) Patheticcockroach 19:56, 22 March 2010 (CET)
I like the size of your IGN pictures ^^ Patheticcockroach 20:01, 22 March 2010 (CET)
@The sig yh I fixed it yesterday didn't have time to post and test :P... IGN are good size will use them where I can. On to Halo 3: ODST now =/ Prentice 07:31, 23 March 2010 (CET)

google.fr

That was the stupid Google forcing me to go to .fr, and I missed it when I cleaned up the URL. I have this Firefox extension that converts it into English, so I tend to forget I'm on the .fr one ^^ Patheticcockroach 19:49, 6 April 2010 (CEST)

Lol, don't worry about it :P Prentice 19:51, 6 April 2010 (CEST)

Language categories

Hi, I've been dealing with wanted categories, and I stumbled upon the language categories. One thing stroke me about them: they lack a space in their names (e.g. "FrenchSpeakers" instead of "French speakers"). Before I create the missing categories, I'd like to make sure this is a deliberate choice and not a mistake, as this doesn't look very nice IMO. Swimfan 14:43, 25 June 2010 (CEST)

This is deliberate. For a template that I used it needed to be that. Prentice 12:19, 24 July 2010 (CEST)
